The Last Day of Fun

Carly and I are finally home from a fabulous vacation, but we are exhausted!  So, for Independence Day and my blogoversary, a top 10 list will have to do.  Here are my favorite things about the Fourth:

All packed and ready to go!

She's headed to the most magical place on Earth, so I am too!

While I'm gone, Carly will be minding the blog and the house.   She'll have a little help from one of her favorite humans, Melissa, who will be staying here just to be sure the food keeps showing up in her bowl.  Melissa is bringing her furry friends with her, which means Carly may be too busy keeping everyone in line to blog.  So don't worry if you only hear crickets around here for a week or so.  I'll be busy chasing mice and Little Bit in Florida!

The Party is Over, but Today is the Big Day

Carly's Version

Hey everybody, it's me, Carly!

You need to know the real story about our walks.  Mom didn't quite get it right yesterday, so I stole the computer while she is napping.

• I wait ALL DAY LONG at the front door for Mom to come home from work
• I jump around so happy to see her and tell her everything she missed during the day
• I ask if we can go play in the front yard so I can chase the cats away
• She says it's too hot to go out there
• I beg because I only want to go out for a minute
• Finally Mom gives in
• I check our yard and the neighbors
• When I know everything is ok, I lay down and rest
• Mom complains that we aren't walking 
• I take her back inside to get her to stop complaining
• She does lots of boring stuff inside forever
• Just when I'm sound asleep because it's dark and finally cooler, Mom wants to go for a walk and I hate to disappoint her
• We walk
• Mom smiles
• I check for cats one more time
• We come in and go back to sleep

That's what really happens over here!

What We've Been Up To

While I've been absent, everything has been about the same in south Texas. Its hot in the morning, HOT during the day and just hot at night.  Practically anyone could forecast the weather from March until October here.

During our never ending summer, Carly and I keep having the very same argument every day. (Yes she argues!  If you don't know what she's barking, that's your problem. I understand her just fine!)

Anyhoo,  it goes something like this....

• I'm finally get home from work and can't wait to just sit and be quiet
• Carly begs and pleads to go on a walk VERY loudly
• I remind her we live on the sun and it's too hot to walk before 9pm
• She doesn't care, she wants to walk NOW
• I try not to make eye-contact
• She sits at the front door and whines
• I give in and change clothes
• We start walking
• We get 3 houses away (at the most)
• Carly stops and lays under a neighbor's tree
• She complains that it's too hot to take a walk
• I make her get up
• She drags me back home
• I say, I told you so
• Carly rolls her eyes
• We wait until 9
• We walk again
• Carly smiles 
• I sweat, because by the way, it's still HOT

Wordless Wednesday...A Weekend Full of Christmas Parties

Carly's questions about Christmas

• Why is there a tree in the house and why is it so bright?
• Why can't I pull a stick off of it?
• Why can't I pee on the nice white tree skirt blanket under the tree?
• Why do all these delivery men intruders keep showing up with boxes?
• Why am I not allowed to tear them open?  I'm just trying to protect mom!
• Why do the neighbors have scary, loud and bright decorations monsters in their yards?
• Why don't you run fast as fast can be by their houses too?  You should be scared!
• Why does that sock hanging in front of the fireplace smell like bones?
• Why can't I taste that sock?
• Why does mom say my name like it's a bad word when I innocently sniff the presents toys under the tree?  Isn't everything on the floor mine?
• Why does mom keep covering everything in paper?  That makes it a lot harder to smell what is inside after she leaves.
• Why does mom go somewhere every night and why can't I go too?
• Why can't I have a chocolate Santa?   Mom says it's the best thing ever.  That's just mean!
